Hibernation

It was a warmish day in November so I cleaned out the garage which was a mess with all the plastering and fiberglassing going on
I washed the bikes, ran some stabilizer through them with a quick ride each and put them to bed for the winter
Depressing...

I cleaned up the tail and tried it back on the frame in the basement

Four layers of fiberglass cloth
It lays down much nicer than mat

Spray glue and tinfoil and then sneak the tinfoil back into the kitchen before anyone notices

The license plate bracket is at the right angle and the cut outs down to the frame have been plastered

 More plastering

Building the Seat

I started building the seat by making a framework

Niagara Falls

We made a nice run down to Niagara Falls

Steve, Jimmy, Gary, Sean and Kirk were along

Friday the 13th September 2013

Another Friday the 13th with stops at Steve's in Brantford and the Boston Baptist Church to see Pastor Peter Lamont again
The blue 1200 is his
The regulars: Steve, Jimmy, Ricker, Gary, Sean and myself were there
There was a huge turnout despite the cold temps

I have everything taped off and covered up in preparation for forming the seat portion of the plug
No matter how carefully everything is covered up there will still be plaster everywhere

Building the Tail in the Garage

I finally started working on the tail in the garage where I can fiberglass it
If I fiberglass in the house I will be divorced

Non Raining Ride

I had to get the '78 out on this nice sunny day
I have been caught in the rain many times this summer so this was a relief

Really Naked Goldwing

Just over the border at 12:30 AM I needed gas and the filler is under the locked door so this time I had to take the tank completely off
It was a good thing the gas station wasn't busy
The last couple off hours were uneventful and I finally made it home
Yea

Searched at the Border

Apparently we looked a little sketchy so we all got searched at the border
They were probably watching me with binoculars at Hortons as I was taking my bike apart

Broken Tank Lock

It all started going downhill just before we got to the border
After the last toll booth, the little cover over the tank lock broke off and jammed in the lock making it impossible to get into the tank
Unfortunately my passport, wallet and tools were in there and I knew the border security would want to see at least my passport
So ... at the Hortons before the border I had to take the seat off and unbolt the tank so I could reach up under the tank and get at my passport

In transit

Sunday morning we left Laconia after one more run through Weirs Beach
We were going to take two days to get home but Monday was supposed to be rainy  and we were quite tired of rain so we decided to do it in one shot

Saturday night we went to the Broken Spoke for a drink
Worst...service...ever
For some reason we couldn't get served
Maybe they thought we were under aged
So we left

Back at the condo doing some bonding
Notice I have my t-shirt so we can leave any time

Here we are down at Weirs Beach
First order of business: get a t-shirt

The next morning in Laconia looked much better so we headed down to Weirs Beach
You can see the plastic on my seat that I had to ride on since the seat was soaked

We stayed over in Lake George and checked out Americade Friday
It was raining again so not much was going on so we headed to Laconia

It stopped raining when we reached Lake George so we tried to dry everything

It rained the entire ride to Lake George and we were soaked
We left puddles at all the rest stops

Our first stop across the border and it had started to rain so hard and so fast that we didn't have time to put our rain gear on
We figured there was no sense putting rain gear on over wet clothes now
