Dual Headlight Bracket

I finally bought a MIG and finished welding the bracket for the dual headlights
It attaches to the gauge bracket bolts and the brake splitter bolts
The fiberglass bucket I will make attaches to the 2 arms at the top

Bike Fixed

John Bennett figured out my bike problem as a failing Dyna
He took it for a spin around our circle when he returned it

CVMG Show

Steve and I went to the vintage bike show in Paris in June
The parking lot is at least as interesting as the show

Tail Buffed

The tail came out pretty nice once I buffed it

Border

We are as good as home

Vermont

Vermont looks very different when it's not dark and raining

Emergency Stop

My speedo cable started chirping and there was no way it was going to make it home so I took it off and lubed it
Just like new

Last Stop at Weirs Beach

Gary had to get some swag so we went down to Weirs Beach again
Not too many people there early Sunday morning

Leaving for Home

Leaving the hotel Sunday morning

Weirs Beach

We parked at Weirs Beach and found this great spot on the water for lunch

More Weirs Beach pics
My bike is a mess after riding through Vermont and New Hampshire in the rain

Laconia

Here we are in the parking lot of the hotel ready to ride to Weirs Beach at the crack of 11:00
This is how we rode: shorts and no helmet
Never done that before

Vermont at Night in the Rain

We made it into Vermont before it started raining again
Gary and I pulled into a gas station for shelter and realized Steve wasn't with us
Our Garmins are not waterproof so we decided to change into our rain gear and sit tight until he showed
I went in to the deli affiliated with the gas station looking for some plastic wrap for the GPS and came out with a green plastic hair net
We were just about to backtrack looking for Steve when he pulled into the gas station
He had stopped at the previous gas station to change into his rain gear
He did wonder why we didn't miss him though
This picture was taken when we stopped to pull out the paper maps after 2 Garmins attempted to run us into an embankment
Once we got the route figured out it really started to rain
The rest of the ride was quite stressful through the hills in the dark in the rain trying to navigate looking through a green hair net on my GPS
We got to the hotel at 12:30 after riding around Laconia for half an hour looking for it

Leaving Lake George

It did stop raining but by then it was starting to get dark
We had to get gas and get on the road
I'm exhausted at this point

Americade !

It felt good to get off the bikes
We walked the strip and checked out everyone elses bikes
We were mosying but we knew we couldn't stay too long since we had a way to go to get to Laconia
Problem: it started raining   argh
Plan: let's grab dinner and hope it stops

Arriving in Lake George

Here we are in Lake George after riding north. We encountered stop and go traffic on the way which really delayed us and wore out my clutch hand

Fateful Decision

We stopped at Dunkin Donuts because it was decision time; do we detour north to Lake George to catch Americade or continue east to Laconia

I wanted to check out Americade since we were so close but I think Steve and Gary were indifferent

After the GPS said it would only add 25 minutes to our route we decided to go to Americade

Our happy time was close to ending

Another Rest Stop

Here we are at another rest stop
We're starting to look a little weary

Man Down

This is our second rest stop across the border and my brother is done so it's a good thing we didn't pull out a map to see how much farther we had to go

Rest Stop

This is the first of our many rest stops in the US
At this point we are still having fun

At the Border

Gary and I are waiting for Steve to cross the border at Lewiston

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Steve and Gary came in from Brantford, I came in from Kitchener and we met at a Hortons in Ancaster
They are practising for the border
Notice how clean our bikes are

Laconia 2012 Leaving Home

I have been bugging my brother to ride to Laconia for years now, so this year his friend Gary catches wind of this and runs with it. He booked a hotel in Laconia before we could decline but that's really what we needed; someone to take control. I don't know why I agreed to this but I think it was because I didn't check a map and really didn't consider the amount of riding involved
The plan was to ride to Laconia the Friday before the bike week started, do the Weirs Beach thing on Saturday and ride home on Sunday. Like I said, I didn't really think this through
This is my '78 warming up in the driveway at 6am on Friday

Paris Hortons

Here we are in the parking lot of Hortons in Paris
Our bikes are almost identical just like my brother and me. Ha

Steve continued on to Brantford and I looped back through Ayr and home

It really is a nice ride to Paris
We encountered this on the backroads to Paris
