I took a ride out to the Schneider's sign to take some pics for an art project
I have seen this sign for years from the 401 but never this close
Steve, Gary and I are waiting for Tim for a ride to Port Dover
I'm working on a lip detail that will match the front fender
You can see the pan has been ground, filled and sanded and is now bolted to the tail
The T nuts are in place and will be Bondo Glassed to the bottom of the seat pan
Marv and I rode to Stratford for dinner and as usual he stripped down to his shorts the way I like
We stopped again back in Kitchener

The seat pan has been fiberglassed and needs to be trimmed

The tail has been taped and aluminum foiled in preparation for fiberglassing the seat pan
This picture will be sent to Terry at Tom's Upholstery in Brantford so he can emulate the pattern on the new seat

The fiberglass has been ground, filled and sanded
It will require much more filling and sanding
I  found these turn signals which look similar to the stock ones and have a simpler mounting system and shorter stalks. The clincher was the fact that there were some loose red lenses that looked like a direct replacement. I didn't find out until I got home that the lenses were very slightly too small. The screw holes need to be elongated and the lenses will have to be polished since they are pretty scratched up. The other issue that I didn't notice until later was that one signal was an 1156 and one was a 1157. I found an 1157 socket to fit so that issue is resolved
I am rethinking the shock mounted LED tail lights. I want something more period looking so I went to Zdenos to see what they had in the way of interesting turn signals The only stipulation was: they had to have red lenses since they will be tail lights as well as turn signals. I didn't realize how few red lensed turn signals there are until I was digging through boxes of old turn signals. The vast majority are amber.  By chance they had a red lens that fits the stock Goldwing housing. This would be perfect; to use the stock turn signals except there was only one red lens at Zdenos and my right stalk is broken (the droopy one in the pic) so I would need to find another stock Goldwing turn signal. The other problems are: the stalks are on the long side and would stick out farther than I would like and the rear turn signals are 1156 sockets which means I would have to find two front stock Goldwing turn signals which have 1157 sockets since they are also running lights. It would also be difficult to make a mount for the turn signals since they are plastic and have a complicated rubber mounting system.

The wiring harness for the rear lights is all soldered and shrink tubed
Marv, Egon and I rode to Paris for dinner
Marv doesn't ride with his shorts on, he has riding pants that he wears overtop then strips them off very sexy like
My brother is cutting off the exhaust tip to match the other side which fell off due to rust
It sounds great now and not too loud
My brother and I rode to the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group's Paris Rally
Most of the interesting bikes are in the parking lot
Standard Goldwing 1100 like the one I have
Tim met us at the show as he wanted to drive because he anticipated buying too much stuff to bike home
I like these old Hondas. My brother not so much

We met up with Gary who spent the day riding around the grounds on his '73 Lambretta scooter that was pulled out of a field
Steve and Alexander following us on the 1100, coming home from the Unfinished Nationals car show in Paris

While the shelter is off I wired auxiliary sockets to the auxiliary terminal on the fuse block
Now I can plug in my GPS, phone and camera

Since I am going LED for the back lights, the old school flasher relay won't encounter enough resistance to operate properly. I could put resistors in the circuit like I see some people do and still use the old relay but it is much easier to just replace it with an electronic one

I found a 6 pin male connector that plugs into the stock wiring harness. This is temporarily wired to a trailer light converter which is temporarily wired to the 2 tail light/brake light/turn signals. I wanted to see if everything worked before I soldered it all together. Surprisingly, with my electrical track record, it worked the first time. The lights have tape all over them because I am in the middle of painting them. This is a story I will get to later
T-nuts are bolted to the fender mount holes and will be Bondo Glassed to the inside of the tail
This is how the tail will be held down at the back without any exposed hardware

I want to keep the tail nice and clean so I will side mount the licence plate
I made a small bracket that attaches to the diff vent bolt, and I hope it doesn't spin into the wheel like a metal baseball card
Some licence plate bolt LEDs will light everything up

My brother gave me a small fairing from a Buell so I tried it on the '80 and it fits like it was made for the bike
I'll make a couple of brackets and mount it to the headlight bolts
